Ending Abuse at the Hands of Law Enforcement
Gender based violence is pervasive, and reaches all levels of society, including state violence. GGE is committed to creating safety for cisgender and transgender girls and non-binary youth through an anti-carceral feminist analysis. We believe that young people cannot experience safety while there are police in schools, which is why we have committed to building police-free schools. We know that policing and prisons are purveyors of sexual violence, and they are the embodiment of institutionalized racism.
By redirecting resources away from carceral systems, we believe that we can prevent sexual violence at the hands of law enforcement, and redirect resources toward healing, safety, and building consent culture. Girls for Gender Equity has been a coalition member within Communities United for Police Reform (CPR) for years, and a member of the Interrupting Criminalization Network.
