GGE Responds to New School Policing Data

This week the NYPD has posted the latest quarter of school policing data, detailing the period from April 1 to June 30, 2021. Police activity in NYC public schools is rising. Anyone who sees this data knows something is wrong.

Year after year we see that Black students are disproportionately policed in their public schools; by NYPD’s own account, Black students face the highest rates of police interactions.

We call on the New York City Council to condemn this trend, and refuse to make the perpetuation of school policing part of their legacy.
